New air service from the US to Fiji!

Beginning today, Continental airlines is offering nonstop service from Honolulu, HI (airport code HNL) to Nadi, Fiji (airport code NAN)! The outbound flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays, departing Honolulu at 6:55PM and arriving at 12:40AM 2 days later (due to crossing the international dateline). Return service will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays, flying out of Nadi at 9:50AM and arriving in Honolulu at 5:25PM the previous calendar day.

Until now, only Air Pacific offered nonstop flights to Fiji from the US(out of Los Angeles-LAX), so this is a good new option, especially for those flying from parts of the country where a flight to/from HNL is fairly comparably priced to a flight to/from LAX. Continental's round-trip HNL-NAN fares are currently running about $50-$450 less (depending on travel dates) than Air Pacific's round-trip LAX-NAN fares.

This new route also allows the travel time to be broken up a bit more - the flying time between HNL and NAN is about 6 hours and 45 minutes each way, as opposed to 10 or 11 hours each way between LAX and NAN.

The only caveat is that the new inbound flights will make it necessary to spend at least the first (and likely the last) night of a Fiji trip in Nadi, rather than being able to go directly onto more scenic areas of the country. But it also opens up new outbound travel dates for those interesting in experiencing all the beauty, culture, and adventures Fiji has to offer!

Air Pacific's service from LAX to NAN operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, departing at 9:30PM or 10:30PM (changes with daylight savings time)and arriving 2 days later at 5:15AM

Air Pacific's service from NAN to LAX operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, departing at 10:50PM and arriving at 12:05PM or 1:05PM the same day.
